This is an open group dedicated to the practice and understanding of Mindfulness and Insight meditation. The group is led by Jonathan Weber, a skilled teacher with over 20 years of experience in this style. The session will be divided into 45 minutes of guided meditation practice, followed by teachings and dialogue. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about this powerful and effective technique of meditation from a knowledgeable teacher, whether you are new to meditation or seek to deepen and advance your practice.

Mindfulness meditation is a popular form of meditation from an ancient system called Vipassana, or Insight meditation. It is also the principle technique for MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) programs such as made popular by John Kabat-Zinn in the USA.Mindfulness is a method of direct observation of what is happening in the present moment, before the thinking mind gets involved. It is the heart of Insight meditation, which uses mindfulness to see into the true nature of things, and ones own true nature. The goal of both Mindfulness and Insight meditation is to realize greater presence, clarity, peace, and wisdom, amidst all the activities and movements of daily life, ultimately leading to a transformation of what ails us into liberating awareness. The benefits are also proven in the field of medicine and science to reduce unhealthy stress, anxiety, pain, and depression.

The price is set on a low sliding scale, to allow for most people. (No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.) The classes are drop-ins, but for maximum benefit attendance of all the classes is recommended. The class is set for 1.5 hours, though Jonathan will remain available to answer questions. Teaching is in easy American English.
